Consistent reporting and tracking of climate action is critical to meeting local, regional, national and global climate targets. However, tracking systems, where they exist, are rarely integrated. This sort of parallel tracking makes it difficult to get a clear picture of climate action above the local level, as a way to inform more targeted policy and action.
With more than 1,000 reporting entities, the carbonn Climate Registry (cCR) is a leading voluntary reporting platform for local and regional governments. Through the cCR, these entities publicly report and monitor climate mitigation and adaptation commitments, plans, actions and performance.
The cCR supports cities, towns and regions with developing robust reporting practices that enhance transparency, accountability and credibility. The platform uses reporting tools consistent with global standards and protocols and encourages measurable, reportable and verifiable (MRV) local climate action.
Data from the cCR shows the impact of local climate action and how it can contribute to Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) – national climate action plans submitted under the Paris Agreement – and to global climate targets.
The cCR a number of key initiatives addressing a specific target group and theme. The cCR is also a prime data partner of the NAZCA Global Climate Action Portal managed by UN Climate Change.
