The aim of the project is to develop a joint Sustainable Energy Access and Climate Action Plan (SEACAP) for the Maputo Metropolitan Area (MMA) with the involvement of local stakeholders and the community by building capacity of the involved municipalities in planning for climate adaptation, mitigation and access to sustainable energy. Maputo, Matola and Boane are increasingly affected by climate change and access to energy challenges and requested support for planning.

What we achieved
UN Habitat request ICLEI Africa as an Implementing Partner to support the implementation of the project ‘Promoting climate action through an inclusive, integrated and sustainable metropolitan mobility system in the Maputo Metropolitan Area’ by developing a joint Sustainable Energy Access and Climate Action Plan (SEACAP) for the Maputo Metropolitan Area (MMA).
ICLEI Africa is following the CoM SSA methodology to SEACAP development with a participatory and inclusive approach.
Through the SEACAP development process, Maputo, Matola and Boane are collaborating to better plan for climate change and energy related challenges.
