Cities have been constantly suffering from various extreme weather events, especially those that cause disasters such as floods, landslides, heat waves and communicable diseases. Decision-making for urban adaptation is urgent, but it is still a very challenging context, as there are no adequate indicators to measure the city's needs.

What we are achieving

Based on the scenario presented, ICLEI together with Google Latin America seeks to develop a series of adaptation and resilience indicators in order to measure local resilience levels. The city of Rio de Janeiro is the model for this Panorama that is being built. One of the objectives is to develop a methodology that can be replicated for other Brazilian capitals, which can be compared in a ranking.
