What we did
The Climate Action Planning Academy was part of the portfolio of activities of the GCoM in partnership with ICLEI South America, with the aim of training and leveling local governments that are signatories of the Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy, as well as other local governments in Latin America. The Academy included two cycles of three training sessions, namely: Greenhouse Gas Emissions Inventories, Climate Risk and Vulnerability Analysis and Climate Action Plan.

What we achieved
In 2024, the following capacity-building programs were conducted:
Training on Climate Risk and Vulnerability Analysis (Jan-Feb): A total of 846 registrations were received from 318 cities across 17 Latin American countries. Out of these, 160 participants commenced the course, and 86 were certified upon completion.
Training on Climate Action Plan Development (Feb-Apr): This program attracted 383 registrations from 179 cities in 16 Latin American countries. Of the participants, 164 began the course, and 101 successfully obtained certification.
