ACTIVITY INFORMATION
What we did

Topsham, Maine does not yet have a greenhouse gas inventory (GHGI) to inform the community of climate action it must take. Quantifying community greenhouse gas emissions will ensure the town’s government is able to effectively undertake climate action planning. To do so, Topsham has contracted ICLEI to develop a community-wide (CW) GHGI, set the town’s science-based targets (SBTs) and develop a memo to communicate them, forecast emissions to 2030, and model three high-impact action (HIA) calculators.

What we achieved

ICLEI has developed a CW GHGI, calculated SBTs for 2030, forecasted 2021-2030 emissions, and modeled three standard ICLEI recommended HIAs. To do so, ICLEI has utilized ClearPath to inventory community GHGs, completed the forecasting process, and modeled three HIAs. SBTs were calculated based on the One Planet City Challenge (OPCC) calculation methodology. Providing Topsham with these deliverables will enable the town to move forward with additional climate action steps.
