Under the theme “Powering collective action to respond to the climate emergency,” Daring Cities 2024 has facilitated exchanges among policymakers, technical experts, and leaders worldwide to share knowledge, showcase innovative climate actions, and foster ambitious collaborations, advocating for integrated solutions that address the interconnected challenges of the climate emergency.
From the Daring Cities Bonn Dialogues, held in June alongside the UNFCCC Climate Talks in Bonn, to the Virtual Forum, which featured ten online events streamed from around the globe, Cornerstone II “Exchange” of Daring Cities 2024 has mobilized a diverse and engaged community to deepen knowledge and multilevel action to shape our cities.
These exchanges have produced a set of key findings, which emerge from three core pillars and that will guide our inputs in the lead-up to COP29 in Baku and beyond:
1. Cities and regions have the power -and the success stories- to demand bold multilevel partnerships and governance for more ambitious climate action.
2. Cities and regions must embrace a bottom-up approach to create truly inclusive urban spaces for all.
3. Cities and regions are implementing holistic and integrated solutions to tackle the climate emergency.
