
Once unsuitable even for agricultural use, Eopseong Reservoir and its surrounding area have been transformed into Seongseong Lake Park, earning praise for its remarkable environmental restoration. By preserving the original ecosystem and incorporating citizens’ voices in its management, the park has been recognized for enhancing both nature and community well-being. Cheonan City initially set out to redefine the reservoir’s value by integrating ecological resources, recreational spaces, and environmental education, aligning with its vision of a nature-based, people-centered urban space. This commitment remained consistent throughout the project, leading to its successful execution.
Key efforts included improving water quality through water circulation facilities, artificial wetlands, and green space maintenance, as well as establishing ecological learning sites such as artificial plant islands and nature trails.
