Jangyu Library underwent a green remodeling project for its 20th anniversary to address insulation and energy efficiency issues. Through the Ministry of Environment’s Public Sector Carbon Neutrality Leading Model Program, the library upgraded insulation, replaced windows, installed high-efficiency LED lighting, and implemented an energy management system. It also integrated solar panels, a geothermal heating and cooling system, and other renewable energy sources to enhance energy self-sufficiency. Additionally, the library expanded its collection on climate change and launched educational programs. As a result, it reduced annual greenhouse gas emissions by 332.5 tons, achieved an energy self-sufficiency rate of 110%, and became the first local government building in the province to be certified as a top-class Zero Energy Building (ZEB) with a 1+++ energy efficiency rating.
