Tarpon Springs adopted its Sustainability Plan in 2023. Emerging from that important step, the City sought to identify and model climate implementation strategies, forecast emissions, and catalyze support from department leads, city management, and officials using the 2019 Local Government Operations Greenhouse Gas Inventory.

This included a review of future policy scenarios, testing of various forecasts and emission reduction targets, modeling of low, mid, and high reduction mitigation measures, presentation of progress to the Sustainability Action Committee, research of potential funding strategies, and writing of a report to communicate results.
