Few developing cities have comprehensive climate action plans or green growth strategies based on reliable data. The City Climate Planner program addresses this gap by raising the global talent base of city climate planning professionals through training and professional certifications.
The City Climate Planner program, led by GBCI in partnership with WRI and ICLEI, ensures urban professionals are equipped to support local climate action planning, including greenhouse gas emission inventories, climate action and low emission development planning and climate adaptation planning. These efforts are essential building blocks of local planning and policy development efforts by local governments to address climate change.
