What we did
This cohort facilitated an understanding among participating local governments of how to analyze biodiversity and nature in the community, and how to develop effective nature-based solutions to address challenges and reverse biodiversity loss. In doing so, local governments have access to tools and resources to inventory their current natural assets and resources and integrate nature-based solutions into climate planning. Local and regional governments engaged in 6 cohort sessions and 1 webinar in order to learn how to access these resources and use available tools to develop natural asset maps, natural resource inventories, and local biodiversity strategies and action plans.

What we achieved
Through this cohort, ICLEI USA increased the capacity of its members to protect nature and reverse biodiversity loss by developing nature-based solutions and integrating them into a larger climate action plan or standalone local biodiversity strategy and action plan. ICLEI USA hosted 6 cohort sessions and 1 webinar to introduce members to biodiversity, how to analyze it within their communities, and how to develop and implement solutions to nature-based challenges and issues. This activity ensured members understand how to effectively communicate the importance of addressing biodiversity threats, how to effectively use tools and resources (both within network and outside) to address them, and how to ensure implementation through incorporating nature-based solutions into climate action planning.
