The City of Albany is preparing to update its Climate Action Plan and is seeking data-driven insights from updated greenhouse gas inventories to inform the effort. With this greenhouse gas inventory, the City can prioritize strategies and actions in the CAP that have emerged from plans such as Complete Streets and Bike & Pedestrian Plan. To address the need for updated inventories, Albany contracted ICLEI USA to develop them using its ClearPath software, in which its previous inventories are housed.

What we achieved
ICLEI USA is supporting Albany’s climate planning efforts through the completion of community-wide and local government operations inventories. The community-wide inventory meets the U.S. Community Protocol, while the local government operations inventory meets the LGO Protocol. In developing these, Albany can compare its current emissions to previous inventories and prioritize CAP strategies to address high emissions sectors and activities.
