The global project, spearheaded by the World Secretariat, was collaboratively designed, implemented, and managed to deliver locally tailored Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) aimed at achieving tangible social, environmental, and economic improvements in urban regeneration. The initiative was dedicated to transforming interventions in Front-runner cities into exemplary cases of successful NBS implementation, while simultaneously developing robust replication roadmaps for Fellow cities.

What we achieved
The primary objective of CLEVER Cities was to ensure the long-term sustainability of initiatives in both Front-runner (FR) and Fellow Cities (FE). This was achieved by establishing innovation partnerships, known as Communities of Practice (CoP), which leveraged SMART city principles. These partnerships aimed to actively engage residents, establish new governance frameworks, and develop innovative financing and investment strategies.
