What we did
In 2021, the international climate stage is even more important, with so much put on hold during the first year of the pandemic. However, as of beginning of May 2021, there are still a number of major ambiguities on the dates, format and engagement modalities of relevant UN conferences, due to the prevailing conditions of the COVID-19 pandemic. This applies in particular to the biodiversity COP15 in Kunming planned for 11-24 October and the climate COP26 in Glasgow planned for 1-12 November.
Despite the uncertainties regarding the global process, neither the climate and biodiversity emergencies, nor the COVID-19 response, recovery and redesign processes at the national and local levels are stopped. Therefore, it is even more important that Daring Cities continues to be recognized as the space for local and regional governments to make their voices heard, capacities advanced, and experiences shared.

What we achieved
Daring Cities 2021 offers global, diverse perspectives from compelling urban leaders who have brought bold climate action to their cities, towns and regions as a response to the climate crisis. This will be achieved by inviting high-level participants to speak on compelling and relevant climate-related topics. During Daring Cities 2021 there will be a variety of offerings across all time zones, with opportunities for participants to engage and/or to tune in later, as well as opportunities for recognition of leaders and professionals undertaking the important work of urban climate action. As a fully virtual event, Daring Cities 2021 brings the right people to the table for every type of dialogue, including high-level political discussions, in-depth technical trainings, and case study workshops.
