What we are doing
Like many developing countries, Benin generally faces the twin challenges of providing its population with affordable, reliable, and sustainable energy, as well as mitigating the climate impacts of its development pathways. The renewable energy resources of Benin, if tapped especially through off-grip decentralized systems, have the potential to provide enough access to modern energy for the entire country's energy-poor population, and also enable local communities to benefit from the ensuing employment creation as well as other socio-economic benefits that can boost these local economies. Yet, the movement in transfer of the relevant technologies in Benin is rather slow, which is partly due to the poor local capacity, knowledge and awareness of these solutions. Local capacity building therefore needs to be accelerated to support, connect and capture gains from ongoing efforts that are critical to enable actions in the transition towards sustainable energy access and security.

What we are achieving
The overall objective of these partnerships is to develop 1 tailored training and capacity building modules on productive usage of biodigesters technologies and systems. With the tailored development of these modules, the partnership specifically aims to achieve the following:
Contribute to creating an ecosystem in Benin to promote the use of Solar PV and Biodigesters, through knowledge dissemination and development of local capacities and skills, focusing on development and installation of Biodigester Systems;
Empower the local beneficiaries to help create jobs for both trainers and the trainee in biodigesters technology and systems with corresponding teaching and learning materials, while enabling dissemination and increasing acceptance of renewable energy locally.
Avail the ensuing knowledge package online for use in pilot projects outside the scope of this partnership proposal and generally in other developing countries with similar capacity development challenges.
