What we did
The impacts of climate change could be even worse if there were no actions, projects, or initiatives that the national government, local governments, different sectors of the economy, and civil society carry out to adapt territories. For this reason, it is necessary to establish strategies that effectively address these impacts, reduce vulnerability, and increase the resilience of communities and ecosystems. As a result, different regions of the world develop strategies for effective climate governance. Countries, states, and municipalities make commitments and ambitions based on public policies and climate projects that aim not only to mitigate but also to adapt to these effects and impacts. Efforts, such as the development of the Climate Action and Planning Academy, are designed to respond to this need.

What we achieved
The Climate Action Planning Academy is part of the Pact's portfolio of activities in partnership with ICLEI South America. It aims to train and level up local governments that are signatories to the Global Pact of Mayors for Climate and Energy and other local governments in Latin America. The Academy includes two cycles of three training courses, namely: Greenhouse Gas Emission Inventories (IEGEE), Climate Risk and Vulnerability Analysis (ARVC), and Climate Action Plan (PAC). Based on these trainings, local governments will be able to move towards low-carbon and climate-resilient sustainable development, with the knowledge of the necessary tools to have a robust policy for planning and implementing actions focused on combating and preventing the climate crisis. ICLEI South America is recognized for offering training on various topics related to local governments' sustainability, specifically in tackling climate change and its consequences.
