What we did
The City of Hollywood, Florida is undertaking an update to its community-wide and municipal greenhouse gas inventories in response to climate change impacts. In the local area, Hollywood’s coastal position puts it and its residents at increasing risk of seawater intrusion and flooding. The community currently experiences a sunny day flooding frequency of 8 days every year, but could see this rise to as many as 226 by 2060 due to sea level rise. Updating both inventories will ensure Hollywood continues to be a local leader in climate action by allowing the City to monitor its progress so far and plan for the future.

What we achieved
ICLEI is providing the City of Hollywood with 2019 and 2021 community-wide and local government operations greenhouse gas inventories, as well as a narrative report of the results and comparison of the 2019 and 2021 inventories to existing 2014 data. ICLEI is providing the City with data request forms to ease the burden of data collection on the community, and is utilizing the ClearPath Climate Planner tool to calculate the city’s community and municipal emissions. Completion of this activity will enable Hollywood to compare 2019 and 2021 emissions to 2014 levels to measure progress, and plan reduction strategies as they work towards their 2030 science-based targets.
