What we achieved
The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has mandated ICLEI-South Asia to develop a Green City Action Plan for Kota Kinabalu, the first pilot city in the BIMP-EAGA region, using a multi-stakeholder consultative approach. This project involves assessing the city's baseline conditions in municipal services and urban sectors, creating a Greenhouse Gas Emissions Inventory, and conducting a climate vulnerability assessment. Through interactive workshops with stakeholders, priority sectors, infrastructure projects, and policy solutions for low-carbon, climate-resilient development have been identified, along with financial strategies and implementation models. The project aims to provide a comprehensive roadmap for Kota Kinabalu's transition toward sustainable and climate-resilient urban development, serving as a model for other cities in the region.
