What we are doing

To increase the uptake of Life Cycle Costing (LCC) considerations in public tenders throughout the European Union, the European Commission aims to provide practitioners with harmonized, widely-agreed LCC methodologies and tools. LCC is a valuable tool to assess the cost of a product over the course of its lifetime and allows procurers to compare different products and services considering environmental aspects.

What we are achieving

Ecoinstitute SCCL together with ICLEI is developing the LCC tools in 2018 and 2019. A public consultation on the tool(s) is carried out in cooperation with the Procura+ European Sustainable Procurement Network Interest Group on LCC. Once the tools are developed, they will be publicly availble for procurers to use in their tender procedures.
