What we are doing
The Singapore Index, initially designed to measure biodiversity in urban environments, provides a valuable framework for assessing and enhancing urban biodiversity. However, its direct application in China is hindered by regional differences in ecological, climatic, and socio-economic conditions. Localizing the index will ensure it is relevant and effective in the Chinese context, promoting sustainable urban development, enhancing ecosystem services, and supporting China's commitments to international biodiversity targets.

What we are achieving
This project aims to localize the Singapore Index (SI) and apply it to Chinese cities, encouraging them to capture baseline biodiversity data. This initiative will promote biodiversity actions, foster the creation of new policy and implementation networks, and enhance biodiversity conservation and restoration efforts. Additionally, it seeks to assist local government agencies in building teams with improved knowledge and skills in sustainable urban development.
