What we are doing
Air quality is a long-term threat to lives and a common challenge to countries and cities worldwide. In response to the urgent need of a platform focusing on air quality improvement in the East Asia region, the Seoul Metropolitan Government has been annually hosting the International Forum on Northeast Asia Quality Improvement since 2010. In 2018, the ICLEI East Asia Secretariat acted as a co-organizer and supported hosting the 8th Forum on 4-5 September in Seoul, Korea. The Forum provided a platform for local governments from East Asian local governments, atmosphere environmental specialists, and citizens to share their knowledge and insights on air quality improvement. Topics covered in the Forum include vehicle emissions reduction policies, stationary emissions reduction policies, cooperation for clean air, citizen participation for clean air, and strengthening monitoring to better inform air pollution management. The 10 year anniversary will take place in Seoul in late 2020 (TBC).
