What we are doing
Vast amounts of nutrient-rich wastewater disappears daily into the sewers of large cities, while at the same time agriculture struggles to produce sufficient crop yields using conventional fertilisers to feed the growing world population. To address this issue, P2GreeN will explore and implement innovative Nitrogen and Phosphorous recovery solutions for the utilisation of human sanitary waste from urban settlements to produce safe bio-based fertilisers for agricultural production.

How we are tracking
3 pilot and 4 follower regions demonstrating circular nutrient capture of N & P, and reuse at rural/coastal and urban/industrial interfaces as our three pilot regions as well
as our follower regions.
3 governance blueprints developed and validated (TRL
7) for regional balanced N & P circular flows in Gotland,
Sweden, Hamburg-Hannover region, Germany and La Axarquia region, Spain.
4 bio-based fertilisers and their systems application, using N & P from recycled human sanitary waste tested and
validated in 3 pilot regions, TRL 8 achieved.
