ACTIVITY INFORMATION

What we did

South Bend requires an updated community-wide greenhouse gas inventory, as it has not produced one since 2019. An updated GHGI will help South Bend to track its progress towards its 2050 net-zero emissions target, as well as to establish interim 2030 ones. South Bend contracted ICLEI to produce its GHGI.

Successful completion of the 2023 CW GHGI and 2030 forecast and science-based targets - development of narrative report and slide deck to communicate these results

What we achieved

ICLEI is utilizing its ClearPath software to develop a 2023 GHGI for South Bend. The inventory was developed following the U.S. Community Protocol. Developing South Bend’s 2023 GHGI will allow the City to track its progress towards net-zero by 2050 and provide new data to inform its current climate action plan.
