ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability is a global network working with more than 2,500 local and regional governments committed to sustainable urban development.
Border towns and islands face numerous sustainability challenges, including irregular migration flows, and often lack resources, recognition, support and coordination within their state and beyond. The SUBLIME project aims to support the local authorities of such border towns in promoting critical understanding around interconnected sustainability issues in their communities, including climate change and gender equality.

Read more Read lessICLEI is providing a platform for border towns to address their specific concerns and needs in fostering sustainable development and advocate for political support. For instance, ICLEI will organize a European Conference on the topic with local, national and EU policy-makers. These activities will support a greater sensitivity to the realities of border towns in policy making and support the participating local governments in building capacity for inclusive sustainable development in their communities.
