In 2024, The Union of Ibero-American Capital Cities (UCCI), in collaboration with ICLEI, began developing the IberATLAS: Urban Climate Atlas of Ibero-America project, aimed at providing a comprehensive and accessible tool for urban climate analysis and planning in the Ibero-American region.

This initiative seeks to assist cities in developing adaptation and mitigation plans for climate change by utilizing precise and up-to-date data, thereby promoting the integration of climate policies into urban development plans. Additionally, IberATLAS aims to provide training and resources for municipal technicians and managers, empowering them to effectively use the atlas. It facilitates the sharing of best practices and experiences among participating cities, establishing mechanisms for continuous monitoring of climatic conditions and evaluating the effectiveness of implemented policies. Feedback and data are used to adjust and improve adaptation and mitigation strategies.
