
Under the theme “Protecting Wetlands for Our Common Future”, COP15 emphasized the important role wetlands play in sustaining ecological health, biodiversity, and climate resilience. Against the iconic backdrop of Victoria Falls, Mosi-oa-Tunya as it is known locally, the Contracting Parties and wetland stakeholders highlighted the value of wetlands and emphasised the need to create new avenues for collaborative conservation to protect and restore the world’s freshwater resources and habitats. This report focuses on cities’ engagement at COP15 and the key outcomes relating to cities and urban wetlands that emerged from the conference.
