The ICLEI World Congress 2024
The ICLEI World Congress 2024, hosted by the City of São Paulo, Brazil, running from 18 – 21 June, was a pivotal gathering focused on advancing sustainable urban development and equitable adaptation to local and regional challenges. This year’s Congress was a journey of reflection and forward-looking vision, emphasizing the critical challenges and opportunities facing cities, towns, and regions due to rising global risks and changes. Over 1500 attendees, from 96 countries, joined the event to exchange with and inspire one another on the best practices in sustainable urban development, brought to life by the City of São Paulo as our 2024 host.

ICLEI's global advocacy on behalf of local and regional governments
ICLEI has been working for more than thirty years to continually reinforce the collective power of cities, towns and regions and work together with all levels of government to bring sustainability home. We are undertaking these advocacy efforts nationally and multilaterally with over 50 advocacy and diplomacy experts in every ICLEI regional secretariat and country office. In July, the High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) met in New York to explore the regional and local dimensions on effective delivery of sustainable, resilient and innovative solutions regarding the SDGs.
