Learn moreAs one of ICLEI’s longest-standing members since 1995, Gyeonggi-do Province has been a pioneer in advancing sustainable development in the Republic of Korea. In 2023, the province was selected as the host local government of ICLEI Korea (2023–2027), reinforcing its role as a regional sustainability hub. Governor Dong-yeon Kim, who also serves on ICLEI’s Global Executive Committee, is spearheading bold initiatives like the Gyeonggi RE100 Vision, aimed at covering 100% of the province’s energy use with renewables. With targets to expand renewable energy to 9 GW by 2026 and cut emissions by 40%, Gyeonggi-do is transforming the climate crisis into an opportunity for innovation and inclusive growth.
