ICLEI South America has joined forces with ClimateView, a Swedish technology company specializing in data-driven climate decisions. The goal of the partnership is to transform climate action, equipping local and regional governments with cutting-edge tools to achieve ambitious climate goals. The partnership was signed during COP29 in Baku, Azerbaijan, during the official launch session of the Transition Element Framework (TEF). Einar Bodström, CEO of ClimateView, and Rodrigo Corradi, Deputy Secretary of ICLEI South America, represented the organizations at the signing.
ClimateView’s platform is already used in more than 135 cities and regions in Europe and North America, providing the public sector with strategic data for decisions and investments that accelerate the climate transition. With ICLEI’s technical knowledge and experience in urban sustainability, this partnership promises new horizons for effective climate governance.
During the ICLEI 2024 World Congress in May, the platform signed a partnership with ICLEI USA. In September, in the context of New York Climate Week, this strategic partnership was formalized with the aim of accelerating the transition of US subnational governments towards a sustainable future. The current formalization of the partnership with ICLEI South America demonstrates the relevance of the region and the potential business models to be established.
“Especially taking into account the experience that our colleagues in the United States are already having with ClimateView for their members, we see it as a step forward for ICLEI South America to think about an agreement that brings us closer to the platform, closer to the Swedish cooperation spaces for South America and to be able to understand how this cooperation agenda with this company can open doors to products that are better suited to the needs of our members in the region,” says Corradi.
In this initial phase, the focus will be on deepening our understanding of ClimateView’s systems and designing business models that enhance the impact of the partnership.
