ICLEI calls on all local and regional governments to report on progress in their cities, towns, states, and regions through CDP-ICLEI Track, the world’s leading platform for subnational climate action and transparency for climate action. The reporting cycle opens on 17 June.
Showcase your climate leadership. Share your needs and perspectives for accelerating climate action. By reporting through CDP-ICLEI Track, subnational governments gain access to additional services and capacity-building opportunities to strengthen climate action and accelerate implementation towards climate neutrality.
In 2025, data from more than 1,000 cities, states and regions, representing over one billion people, was reported through the platform. The reporting from subnational governments thus contributes to accountability and transparency.
“Regular public reporting and providing an annual update on developments is critical, not only to show the local evolution of climate action, but also to identify challenges and needs which ICLEI and other partners could respond to, through tailored services and support. We encourage the ICLEI network of cities, states and regions around the globe to report through CDP-ICLEI Track on climate resilience, adaptation and mitigation, as well as access to sustainable energy and other sectoral developments. Your ambitions and commitments, assessments, plans and actions , also investment flows and needs will help us assess progress and outline support offers,” says Maryke van Staden, Director of the ICLEI carbonn Climate Center.
Ms van Staden adds: “This data is also used to inform our global commitments, specifically the Paris Agreement and more recent initiatives such as CHAMP, informing communities and stakeholders, multilateral bodies, national governments and the private sector.”
Starting on 17 June, cities, states and regions can begin reporting through the world’s leading platform for subnational climate action and transparency. Existing users can log in to MyPortal. New users can register to begin reporting here.
Of the 1,000 reporting entities, 120 cities and two states and regions received an A score from CDP, including seventy-three ICLEI Members, reflecting strong leadership in climate action and helping set the global benchmark for transparent and accountable local climate action.
CDP-ICLEI Track is powered by ICLEI and CDP, two mission-driven organizations working to advance a sustainable global economy for people and the planet. Its openly available data is also used by entities such as the UN, the IPCC, WHO and the World Bank to inform climate policy and initiatives worldwide.
