The Advisory Board on Zero Waste is selecting 20 Zero Waste Cities to showcase worldwide, shining a spotlight on innovation, inclusiveness, and sustainability, and inspiring others to follow their lead.
As a proud member of the United Nations Secretary-General’s Advisory Board on Zero Waste, we extend this call and encourage cities, towns, and municipalities with exemplary initiatives to apply. Coastal cities are especially encouraged to engage.
Submit your initiative by 19 September. Selected cities will gain high-level global recognition, inform policy and attract funding, and join a peer-learning network on zero waste.

Zero Waste initiatives encompass various waste types, including food loss and waste, natural resource extraction, and electronic waste. At ICLEI, we continue to champion and support responsible Circular Development to address the waste challenge and move toward a zero waste future.
Hosted by UN-Habitat and UNEP, the United Nations Secretary-General’s Advisory Board on Zero Waste works to raise awareness and promote initiatives that accelerate the transition to sustainable waste management, in line with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
