ICLEI, in partnership with the City of Bonn, invites participants to a 90-minute webinar focused on the critical role of data and information in urban risk assessment and resilience planning.
Accurate risk assessment depends not only on high-quality meteorological and climate data but also on socioeconomic vulnerability information. While organizations like the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) provide essential climate and hazard datasets, cities are increasingly taking the lead in generating, compiling, and applying socioeconomic data to understand which populations and infrastructure are most at risk.
This session will highlight how integrated approaches to data—combining ECMWF resources, World Meteorological Organization (WMO) expertise, and practical examples from up to two pioneering cities—can enhance decision-making and resilience strategies. Participants will learn how linking hazard information with vulnerability data can strengthen resilience planning, support evidence‑based decisions, and ultimately protect those who need it most.
Join us on Wednesday, 25 February at 16:00 CET. Join via Zoom here.
