What we did
Developing an inventory of GHG emissions is a fundamental step to city climate action planning. Many cities find the process to be complex and time-consuming, therefore ICLEI continuously works to streamline and simplify this process. Google announced in early 2019 that it was harnessing building energy and transportation data in an attempt to provide an estimated snapshot of GHG emissions at the city scale. ICLEI evaluated this data to help local government practitioners understand the impacts of using the data in their inventories.
