Yeosu City has established a local-level climate change response governance that involves various stakeholders in the community to systematically monitor greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction and climate adaptation policies. This has enabled the city to overcome the structural limitations of the local government, which has limited authority to regulate and control industrial GHG emissions, and significantly reduce the city’s GHG emissions. Its success story is attracting attention as a best practice for local responses to climate change.
