ICLEI is proud to announce the appointment of three members to its Global Executive Committee (GexCom).
Jorge Alejandro Aldana Bardales, Mayor of Tegucigalpa, Municipality of the Central District, Honduras, was recently named as ICLEI GexCom Resilient Development Portfolio seat. This new role comes in addition to his current responsibilities as GexCom Regional Seat for Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean, and as a member of the Regional Executive Committee (RexCom) for the same region.
Piia Elo, Mayor of Turku, Finland, for her part, was designated as the GexCom Regional Seat for Europe, complementing her role as member of the ICLEI Europe RexCom.
On 26 November, Mayor Elo was also announced as the new advisor to the ICLEI GexCom Circular Development portfolio. She will be working closely with the newly elected Circular Development Portfolio holder, Takeharu Yamanaka, Mayor of Yokohama City, Japan. This announcement took place during the closing ceremony of the Asia Smart City Conference.
