What we did
1. This activity is needed to facilitate the market uptake of renewable energy sources (RES) in the electricity sector, particularly through the implementation of provisions for renewable energy communities (RECs) as defined in the new Renewable Energy Directive.
2. This directly impacts local and regional governments by analyzing legal, socioeconomic, spatial, and environmental characteristics related to the slow deployment of RECs in selected target regions. It also involves stakeholder dialogues and the development of regional action plans and business-model proposals.
3. Through this activity, local and/or regional governments are addressing the issue by participating in stakeholder desks and policy labs, synchronizing project activities with the transposition/implementation of the Clean Energy Package, and drawing policy lessons with validity across Europe.

How we tracked
The German desk concentrates on community wind energy and community integrated solutions.
In Belgium, the country desk focuses on Flanders.
In Italy, the development of RECs is still at an early stage, although there is a large potential.
In Latvia, the COME RES project does not limit its focus on selected target regions but considers all of Latvia.
The Dutch Stakeholder Desk brings together a wide range of stakeholders involved in the development of community energy in the target region Noord-Brabant.
The Norwegian COME RES country desk consists of 29 organisations and companies from diverse sectors and industries, who all share an interest in developing renewable energy.
In Poland, the Stakeholder Desk concentrates on community PV and community integrated solutions in the Warmian-Masurian target region.
In Portugal, the project focuses on the Norte Region as the target-region.
In Spain, the COME RES project focuses its activities on four regions: Valencia and Catalonia are considered model regions, given their long tradition of energy cooperatives.

What we achieved
1. ICLEI is providing communication/dissemination and policy expertise, particularly on local activities, within the activity.
2. ICLEI is leading various work packages and tasks related to dissemination, communication strategy, project website development, promotional material creation, interaction with other projects and initiatives, organizing European Policy Roundtables, and collaborative workspaces.
3. This activity will positively impact the identified problem by effectively disseminating information, promoting dialogue and collaboration among stakeholders, creating visibility for the project and its results, and ultimately contributing to the market uptake of renewable energy sources in the electricity sector, especially at the local and regional levels.
