ICLEI World Congress showcases how cities, towns and regions across our network are advancing sustainable urban development worldwide, and critically looks at the most relevant and pressing issues in urban sustainability. Local and regional governments are connected with each other and with strategic partners, using ICLEI World Congress as a platform for discussions that will inform and enhance their work.

ICLEI World Congress 2021-2022 had three parts (in order to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic): 1. Virtual launch - a fully virtual experience that kicked off the Congress with high-level and insightful global discussions. 2. Webinar series - took participants on a tour around the world, exploring global sustainable development advances as we moved toward 2022. 3. Malmö summit - three days of strategic high-level dialogues building on themes explored in 2021, as well as engaging technical site visits, in-depth workshops, and multiple networking opportunities especially suited for in-person participation
