What we are doing
As part of the journey towards sustainable urban development, ecosystem services support municipalities and metropolitan regions to identify the potential of their natural resources. This training programme offer a propositional diagnosis that will indicate the windows of opportunity for the promotion of urban development based on nature to develop and integrate it in master plans and in municipal laws Environmental Compensation Strategies, Connectivity Areas, implementation and management of Conservation Units, protection of environmentally relevant areas and other initiatives will be presented to understand the current state of the territory, enabling the choice of coherent paths connected with the local reality. During the Ecosystem Services Capacity Building Programme, the participants will identify and design strategies to meet local challenges for the inclusion of biodiversity in the city's urban planning. The objective is to present the potential offered by nature to decision makers in order to design efficient strategies to meet the challenges of the territory. The training will be developed with an emphasis on the following themes: - Illustrative Mapping of Ecosystem Services; - Ecosystem Services analysis/diagnostic; - Nature Based Solutions.
