Cities in Chinese Taipei face challenges in aligning with international standards for urban nature and biodiversity, including a lack of awareness and capacity among stakeholders to implement integrated approaches and nature-based solutions that address climate, public health, and biodiversity issues. Additionally, there is a need to adapt global targets, such as those in the Berlin Urban Nature Pact, to local contexts, especially considering the unique challenges and potentials of sub-tropical climates.

What we achieved
This seminar, incorporating elements of city-to-city exchange, seeks to contribute to global consultations on enhancing urban nature and stimulate discussions regarding the local relevance of the targets outlined in the Berlin Pact. Additionally, it serves as preparatory progress for cities in Chinese Taipei to make ambitious commitments aligned with international standards. The seminar aims to raise awareness among all stakeholders regarding integrated approaches and the mainstreaming of nature-based solutions across various sectors to simultaneously address climate, public health, and biodiversity issues.
