The impacts of climate change are being felt worldwide, ranging from extreme weather events and natural disasters (e.g. heatwaves, cold spells, forest fires, floods, and hurricanes), to long-term climate challenges such as droughts, rising sea levels, and biodiversity loss. To strengthen the resilience of urban communities against these challenges, sub-national governments can adopt a range of solutions, including nature-based solutions (NbS). NbS is an umbrella term that refers to:
“solutions that are inspired and supported by nature, which are cost-effective, simultaneously provide environmental, social and economic benefits and help build resilience. Such solutions bring more, and more diverse, nature and natural features and processes into cities, landscapes and seascapes, through locally adapted, resource-efficient and systemic interventions” [1].
NbS include green and blue infrastructure, such as green corridors, tree-planting initiatives, community gardens, urban farms, restor
