AFRICA

ICLEI Africa has been expanding its footprint across the continent since 1995, now reaching more than 450 cities and regions in 53 African countries. The Secretariat works with local and regional governments across a wide range of development agendas, aligning its efforts with African and global policy frameworks while grounding its work in the diverse realities of the continent. ICLEI Africa also proudly hosts ICLEI’s global Cities Biodiversity Center (CBC).

Each July, ICLEI Africa marks AfricanCITYFOODMonth. This year’s theme, “Local Plates, Healthy Futures,” highlights how integrated action across food, health, urban planning and energy can strengthen urban food governance and build more inclusive, resilient and sustainable food systems.
