City of Reykjavík

About
The City of Reykjavik is Iceland's capital and largest city; its population of roughly 120,000 accounts for approximately 60% of Iceland’s population. By combining volcanic activity with an adept use of water ways, Reykjavík has become home to the largest geothermal heating system in the world. All electric power and space heating in Reykjavik comes from geothermal and hydropowered energy sources; the city is currently working to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by an additional 35% between 2007 and 2020 by developing sustainable energy solutions in sectors such as transport, waste management, agriculture, and industry.
