About

Located on the northwest coast of the island of Java, Jakarta is Indonesia's capital and largest city. It serves both as a center of Indonesian cultural and political activity and as a global economic hub which has experienced rapid growth in the past few years. Much of the city is located below sea level, making climate change adaptation measures in Jakarta a matter of urgency. Currently, Jakarta is working to address the increase in air pollution and traffic congestion that accompanied its rapid economic growth through the construction of infrastructure for bicycles and public transit.
