About

Walvis Bay is the second largest city in Namibia and contains the country's only deep sea harbour with well equipped infrastructure and port facilities. Due to its geographical location between the Namib Desert and the Atlantic Ocean, Walvis Bay is a strategic gateway for exports and imports between landlocked countries in Africa and the rest of the world. With its large bay and sand dunes, Walvis Bay is also an important touristic destination. Other economic activities relate to diamond and minerals extraction, as well as livestock and fishery production.
