The project is now part of the global platform showcasing more than 300 climate initiatives already delivering tangible climate action impact.
As COP30 unfolds in Belém, the Brokering Innovation for Decentralised Climate Finance and Gender Equality (BRIDGE) project in Cameroon demonstrates that the quality of adaptation finance matters as much as the quantity. True quality means ensuring that funded action is locally led and gender-responsive.
The Granary of Solutions is a dynamic, publicly accessible repository of real-world case studies and scalable climate solutions. Launched by the COP30 Presidency and the Climate High-Level Champions at New York Climate Week in September 2025, it serves as a “showroom” of what works, encouraging replication and supporting progress towards the Paris Agreement goals and the outcomes of the first Global Stocktake. The platform feeds into the COP30 Action Agenda – the UNFCCC pillar that mobilizes voluntary climate action from civil society, businesses, investors, cities, states, and countries.
We are proud to see our ICLEI-led initiative featured in the Granary of Solutions, adding to a growing body of real-world cases that help boost sustainable climate action.
The BRIDGE project showcases ICLEI’s leadership in strengthening the quality of adaptation finance. Launched in 2023, BRIDGE is led by ICLEI Africa, supported by the Step Change initiative, and funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands and the International Development Research Centre (IDRC), Canada.
Through BRIDGE, ICLEI has:
-
Worked closely with FEICOM – the national government entity responsible for subnational financial flows – to improve the quality of calls for proposals by asking the right questions.
-
Improved transparency and evidence-based decision-making by developing a tool that maps public and private sector adaptation finance flows to identify gaps and needs.
-
Built the capacity of project developers to consider not only climate impact but also financial viability, which is especially important for adaptation.
-
Strengthened project assessment through a multi-criteria analysis tool and enhanced monitoring of project implementation with an evaluation and learning dashboard.
