ICLEI Secretary General Gino Van Begin is part of this group of eminent experts appointed by the UN Secretary-General, António Guterres, to advocate the importance of recycling in the face of climate change. ICLEI is committed to disseminating best practices and success stories and promoting zero-waste initiatives at local and regional levels to build a circular, zero-waste future.
Zero Waste initiatives encompass various waste types, including food loss and waste, natural resource extraction, and electronic waste. They aim to minimize waste and address the triple planetary crisis of climate change, biodiversity loss, and pollution. Simultaneously, these initiatives are crucial in bolstering food security and enhancing human health and well-being.
