The Kaohsiung-ICLEI Climate Neutral and Smart Cities Community of Practice (ComP) is an exciting new community of practice for cities and other government entities in the Asia-Pacific region.
It will act as a cohort for capacity building and peer learning for cities, towns, provinces, subnational states, and regions in East Asia and Asia Pacific who are committed to achieving climate neutrality and pursuing innovation and smart city strategies for sustainable transformation by 2050.
The Community of Practice is chaired by the City of Kaohsiung and supported by ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability’s World Secretariat and ICLEI’s Kaohsiung Capacity Center.

Be a part of the community
We’re seeking 15 cities, towns, provinces, and/or subnational states in the Asia-Pacific region to participate in a Community of Practice from March 2025 – December 2026. Selected members will have the opportunity to attend a series of tailor-made capacity-building and peer learning workshops hosted in person in Kaohsiung City. The workshops will provide participating cities with unique opportunities to co-create solutions and accelerate their journey toward climate neutrality by covering a wide range of essential topics such as Research & Innovation for climate action, sustainable energy transitions, smart and resilient mobility systems, and innovative finance mechanisms.
As a valued member of the ComP, you will:
- Collaborate and Network: Build meaningful connections with other governments, non-profits, and private sector innovators.
- Exchange Best Practices and Co-create Next Practices: Learn from peers while sharing your own success stories and challenges. In addition, co-create novel solutions hand in hand with the other ComP members and supporting solution providers that ICLEI will facilitate their engagement.
- Access Resources and Expertise: Gain exclusive access to technical tools, expert guidance, and customized support.
- Increase Global Visibility: Showcase your city’s achievements at international events and in the ComP case study.
To express your interest in becoming part of this initiative, please complete the form. Please note this is an expression of interest, and spaces are limited. The final selection of the 15 participating members will be conducted by ICLEI experts in collaboration with representatives from the City of Kaohsiung. If selected, you will receive a formal invitation to join the ComP.
