What we did
To make a consensus and common visions throughout ICLEI Members in Taiwan, ICLEI KCC undertakes transformative actions that support all the five ICLEI pathways. With the generous support from KCC’s host city, Kaohsiung City Government, 2019 Annual Assembly for ICLEI Taiwan Members-Our Common Vision towards Sustainable Climate Cities will be held. Mr. Li Sichuan, as the Deputy Mayor of Kaohsiung City Government and the ICLEI East Asia Executive Committee, had facilitated other City Representatives into active discussion with the invited speakers. The Congress invited Professor Hamanaka Hironori, the Chairman of ICLEI Japan Office, who is most familiar with ICLEI's international affairs and status quo, to give the opening speech on “The Global Trend of Local Governance and ICLEI Climate Actions”. Another opening speech was given by Dr. Eugene Chien, Chairman, Taiwan Institute for Sustainable Energy (TAISE) & Alliance of Taiwan SDGs (A.SDGs) on “Taiwan: Moving Towards A Sustainable and Beautiful Homeland”. 6 ICLEI City Members of Pingtung, Kaohsiung, Tainan, Chiayi, Taoyuan City, and New Taipei City showcased their best practices focusing on the implementation of ICLEI 5 Pathways in Taiwan. All City Representatives, ICLEI Board Directors and invited speakers had fruitful discussions on how to enhance the global commitment and global energy of Taiwan's sustainable development, and the potential embedded in Cities in Taiwan.
