Cape Town, located on South Africa's Atlantic coast, is the nation's second largest city with about 3.5 million inhabitants. As the seat of the National Parliament, it is South Africa's legislative capital and also serves as the capital of Western Cape province. Cape Town is the second largest economic hub in South Africa, and Africa's third largest economic hub overall. It is an important center for research, education and tourism. The city is located in a "Global Biodiversity Hotspot", and is currently taking measures to preserve its unique natural environment.
