Report by 16 September. This is a call to all cities, states and regions to report through CDP-ICLEI Track to be eligible for a 2026 CDP score, assessing if you are part of subnational climate leaders around the globe. Last year, 73 ICLEI Members achieved an A score, demonstrating leadership in transparent and ambitious climate action. Could your subnational government be celebrated next?
In 2025, more than 1,000 cities, states and regions, representing over one billion people, reported through this platform, contributing to greater accountability and transparency in subnational climate action. Of these, 120 cities and two states and regions received an A score from CDP.
“Last year, 73 ICLEI Members received an A score from CDP, reflecting the strong climate leadership already present across our network. ICLEI encourages all cities, states and regions to report through CDP-ICLEI Track and make their commitments, plans, actions and investment needs visible. This reporting helps us assess progress, understand challenges and needs, and identify where ICLEI and our partners can provide further support,” says Maryke van Staden, Director of the ICLEI carbonn Climate Center.
Reporting through CDP-ICLEI Track enables local and regional governments to showcase their climate leadership and share needs and perspectives for accelerating climate action in their territories. For ICLEI Members, it can also connect work already underway across the network. Cities and regions advancing integrated climate action through ICLEI’s GreenClimateCities™ (GCC), developing sustainable infrastructure projects seeking investment through our Transformative Actions Program (TAP), or working toward 100% renewable energy through the 100% Renewables Cities and Regions Network can reflect these ongoing efforts through their reporting.
While 16 September is the deadline to be eligible for a 2026 CDP score, subnational governments have until the week of 26 October to submit their reports and any amendments. ICLEI will review these submissions, also to assess potential future support services.
